Steps to take to start the year off right
When the Year Begins
Get a head start on completing AB Well Program activities to unlock Flex Credits/Incentives.
If you or your spouse/domestic partner are enrolled in a medical plan, you can complete biometric screenings starting 1/1/2026.
Pro tip: If you're a master at planning, our medical plans cover a preventive visit with a Primary Care Physician on the first day of a new plan year.
Your PCP may recommend preventive screenings, which are also a great idea to complete during the year.
Make sure you can access the Benefits Portal.
The Benefits Portal has resources to help you understand your benefit elections.
It's also where you go if you experience a qualifying life event in the year and you need to make changes to your benefit elections.
During the Plan Year
Take advantage of the power of you x us - make the most of your benefits!
Medical: When a new plan year begins on January 1st, your deductibles, out-of-pocket maximums and benefits will reset, so if you've met the deductible or OOP Max in a plan year, you could consider scheduling any medical services before the year ends.
Dental: Generally speaking, A-B's dental plans have set calendar year maximum benefits (with the exception of the Plus plan's orthodontia coverage, which has a lifetime maximum of $3,000). If you haven't met this year's annual benefit and you need dental services, it may make sense to schedule services this year to get the most of your available coverage. Check out where you stand on your calendar year Dental maximum by logging into your Delta Dental account.
Make the most of your benefits coverage before the year ends
As you look ahead and consider your needs for the next Plan year, consider what kind of services you plan to have and what kind of coverage works best for you and your family members.
Plan to use Flexible Spending Account funds
If you chose to enroll in a 2026 FSA, your funds are subject to use or lose it rules (which you can learn more here)!
Don't forget to incur qualifying FSA expenses before the end of 2026.
